Locals' Night Returns to the Santa Monica Pier This Month

Spring officially arrives on the Santa Monica Pier this Thursday. Locals' Night returns April 16, turning the pier into a free, open-air celebration of music, art, and community from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Two stages of live music run alongside a salsa class, an art market, pop-up artisan vendors, an outdoor movie, and a handful of the pier's best food stalls running extended service.

The event is also part of the pier's quiet "Save the Pier!" campaign — a community effort that has been working to keep the 116-year-old landmark in operation and accessible as the city confronts larger questions about its cultural footprint. On Locals' Night, admission is free, the pier is alive, and the sunset over the Pacific arrives right on cue.

If you're going: park at the Civic Center structure and walk down Ocean Avenue — the pier parking fills quickly. Bring cash for the vendors and a light layer for when the ocean breeze picks up after sunset.
